2. What you can expect
Saint Paul is often viewed as the most significant figure in Christian history after Jesus. His epistles had a huge impact on Christianity, particularly on the relationship between God the Father and Jesus, as well as on the mystical human connection with the divine. His journey in Athens and especially in Corinth contributed significantly to the spreading of Christianity all over the world, and they were among Saint Paul’s most important stops in Greece.
During this guided tour of Athens and Corinth, we will uncover the places where Paul the Apostle spent most of his time and preached. We will first visit the Acropolis Hill and the Parthenon Temple, the emblems of Athens for more than 2 millennia. Although originally a temple of Athena, after the spread of Christianity in the Roman Empire, the Parthenon became a Christian church and the symbol of Christianity in Athens.
Our next stop will be Areopagus Hill. Seat to the high court of Ancient Athens, this is the location where Apostle Paul was first formally asked to preach in the presence of the most significant figures and rulers of Athens. We will also have the chance to see and read the plaque which is engraved with Apostle Paul’s sermon in Areopagus. From there, we will also have a panoramic view of the Ancient Agora of Athens, where Saint Paul spent a lot of time and debated with the philosophers.
After the unique experience in Athens, our professional driver will pick us up and start our journey towards the Peloponnese and Corinth. Along the way, we will make a short stop at the impressive Corinth Canal which connects the Aegean with the Ionian sea, before enjoying lunch at a local, traditional Greek taverna in the town of Ancient Corinth.
After tasting the authentic and distinct flavors of Greek gastronomy, we will step back in the footsteps of Saint Paul and enter the archaeological site of Corinth for a guided tour. There, we will have the chance to discover the places where the Apostle lived, worked and preached the Gospel for a year and a half, such as the Ancient Agora, the “Vima” and the Synagogue. We will also visit the on-site Museum to get a better understanding of everyday life at the time.
Our last stop before returning to Athens will be the ancient port of Kechries which, according to the Acts 15:18, Apostle Paul used to depart from Corinth.
During this private, biblical tour of Athens and Corinth, you will have the chance to truly walk in the footsteps of Saint Paul and enjoy the company and narration of an expert, state-licensed guide. Join us and uncover the experiences Saint Paul had in the very same places, as described in the Book of Acts.
